Where Creativity Meets Business, Culture, and Global
Opportunities

The world of fashion is ever-evolving, and the Department of Fashion Marketing at
Raffles Kuala Lumpur is committed to preparing students not only with strong
academic knowledge but also with hands-on experiences that mirror the realities of
the fashion industry. Offering the Diploma in Fashion Marketing and Diploma in
Fashion Styling, the department embraces the philosophy of “Fashion Learning

Beyond the Classroom”, where theory meets practice, and creativity thrives in real world applications.

Learning Through Live Projects

One of the most distinctive aspects of the department is its strong integration with
industry. For example, in the Fashion Coordination and Promotion module, students
go beyond classroom discussions and actively collaborate with real clients from the
fashion industry. They conceptualize, plan, and organize actual fashion events, taking
full responsibility for every detail, from developing concepts to executing events, and
finally evaluating their effectiveness. These experiences prepare students to handle
the fast-paced demands of event management within the fashion world.

Partnering with Local Fashion Brands

In the Fashion Promotion module, students work directly with local fashion brands.
This hands-on learning approach requires them to design fresh promotional activities,
enhance brand communication strategies, and improvise existing marketing tactics.
By working closely with brand representatives, students gain invaluable exposure to
the realities of business operations while honing their creativity and problem-solving
skills.

Fashion Research in the Field

Research in fashion is more than just academic writing, it is about immersing oneself
in the culture and practices that shape design. The Fashion Research modules require
students to engage in ethnographic research, venturing into the field to study design
processes up close. Through interviews, observations, and field visits, students
understand how social, cultural, and creative elements contribute to the making of
fashion. This experience builds critical research skills while expanding their
perspectives as future marketers and stylists.

Real-World Styling Experiences

For those in the Fashion Styling Project, working with real clients is an integral part of
their learning journey. Students choose between personal styling and commercial
styling, requiring them to research, understand client needs, and deliver professional
outcomes. Whether helping individuals project confidence and authenticity or styling
for commercial campaigns, the module emphasizes the importance of identity,
presentation, and the transformative power of fashion.

Global Learning Across the Raffles Network

At Raffles, the vision of “Fashion Learning Beyond the Classroom” is set to expand into a truly global experience. The next chapter in our journey embraces the full strength of the Raffles network, giving students the chance to step into the world’s most dynamic fashion landscapes.

Imagine studying in Kuala Lumpur and then finding yourself immersed in Milan, the beating heart of high fashion. Through exchange opportunities at Raffles Milan, students will one day gain firsthand exposure to Italian craftsmanship, luxury brands,
and the unique rhythm of Milan’s fashion ecosystem. In Singapore, the cosmopolitan hub of Asia, students can experience a bold mix of East and West, where innovation meets heritage in a constantly evolving industry.

Shanghai offers another vision of the future, where fashion is fused with technology and tradition, reflecting China’s rapid rise as a global fashion powerhouse. In Bangkok, the streets themselves become a classroom, alive with the energy of urban streetwear
and high-end luxury blending seamlessly. In India, centuries of textile heritage come to life, offering invaluable lessons on how cultural legacy continues to shape contemporary fashion.

This global vision is more than just a network, it is a gateway to experiences that prepare students to become internationally attuned, future-ready professionals. With each cross-cultural journey, they will not only broaden their understanding of fashion but also sharpen their adaptability, creativity, and leadership.

Raffles’ next big step ensures that learning goes beyond walls, beyond countries, and beyond expectations; empowering the next generation to create fashion with a truly global voice.
